Collier Street Mural, Barrie

In late 2008, Carleigh Aikins was commissioned by the Arts and Culture Department of Barrie, ON to design a representation of Barrie’s past, present and future. The piece was set to be enlarged and hung at the historical Barrie Opera House site on Collier St.

Heritage Barrie supplied a bursary for the Artist, and Aikins set to work completing the piece. The original stands at 24” x 30” and remains in Aikins’ private collection. The silk-screened 50’ x 60’ enlargement is mounted at the Collier St. Parkade, and can be enjoyed from the street or below it in the Parkette which was later implemented beneath the mural.

The Mural is set to remain installed for a total of five years, if not longer.

It is one of Barrie’s premiere pieces of public art, and Aikins feels humbled and honoured to have her work displayed at such a grand scale in her hometown.

Glicee or Archival Ink Prints of the piece are available in any size by contacting the Artist.
