Vocalist Carleigh Aikins has appeared on numerous reknown stages singing for audiences all over North America and Europe. She's graced everywhere from Royal Albert Hall to the Ryman Auditorium; Red Rocks Amphitheatre to Massey Hall- and countless stages in between them.
From 2014-2017, Aikins was the most recent addition to Denver Colorado's Paper Bird; whose history spans eleven years from humble beginnings in Denver/Boulder's DIY scene to playing national stages. As a member of the band, Carleigh toured across North America- in support of Nathaniel Ratefliff & The Night Sweats' sold out North American Tour, with 2017 Grammy Winners The Infamous Stringdusters ft. Nicki Bluhm on their Ladies and Gentlemen Tour, co-headlining with The Ballroom Thieves along the west coast in addition to countless appearances as headliners at festivals and on stages across the continent. The band has shared the stage with Iron & Wine and Andy Shauff at Mountain Stage, Jose Gonzales at Denver Botanic Gardens, headlined the opening night of Mumford & Sons' Gentleman of the Road Salida Stop Over and collaborated with the Colorado Symphony for a one-night-only engagement at Chuatuaqua. Shortly after joining the Paper Bird fold, Aikins recorded with the group in Nashville, TN with Rock and Roll Hall-of-Famer John Oates at the producer's helm after he sought out the band to co-write and develop their new material. Oates soon after joined in with the band for live performances, and invited them to support Darryl Hall & John Oates at the prestigious Red Rocks Amphitheater. Their collaboration was released September 9, 2016 with Thirty Tigers. In December 2017, Paper Bird folded in the interest of persuing new projects collectively and apart- and played three farewell shows to packed Colorado houses.
Carleigh has performed intimate live shows with Josiah Johnson; and fans of his band The Head and the Heart have heard her sing alongside him at many of their sold-out performances in some of North America's largest concert venues.
Aikins is a featured vocalist with Toronto's top supergroup Dwayne Gretzky . She has appeared with Jack Johnson and is featured on his Live EP From Here To Now To You, 2014. Carleigh performed along North America's west coast singing back-ups for Macy Gray and Galactic. She has extensively toured live with Canadian artist Royal Wood; and provided live vocals for other Canadians such as Donovan Woods , Hannah Georgas, Lydia Persaud, Megan Bonnell, Ben Kunder and with The Weather Station ( with whom she has made appearances supporting The War On Drugs in Philedelphia , at CBC Radio q, The Strombo Sessions and Winnipeg Folk Festival. ) She is a session singer at Aaron Goldstein's ( Huron, City and Colour, Daniel Romano ) Baldwin St. Sound, where she has recorded on over 20 projects that have come through the studio. Aikins has also appeared live with City and Colour,The Weakerthans, Lucius, Ken Stringfellow ( REM, Big Star, The Posies) , Calexico, Shakey Graves, Yukon Blonde, and Gold Lake to name a very few.
For years Aikins toured as a vocalist in Bahamas as they performed on countless NA and EU festivals and stages shared with legends such as Robert Plant, Neil Young and Willie Nelson; and made appearances on Late Night with Conan O'Brien and the final season of The Colbert Report. Aikins appears on the Bahamas recordings- including the Certified Canadian Gold Record Barchords; which also recieved 2014 JUNO nominations. She also sings on the 2015 JUNO Award Winning ( and Polaris Prize Nominated ) album Bahamas Is Afie, and the Bahamas iTunes EP.
Carleigh has worked in-studio on recordings with producers John Oates, Malcolm Burn (collaborator with Daniel Lanois [ U2, Peter Gabriel, Bob Dylan] Patti Smith, Emmylou Harris) Don Kerr ( of The Rheostatics, Ron Sexmith), Michael Timmins (of Cowboy Junkies) , Howie Beck and Jason Collett ( of Broken Social Scene) , Dean Drouillard ( of Royal Wood), Ryan Lenssen (of The Most Serene Republic) Brandon Wolfe Scott (of Yukon Blonde), John Dinsmore (Kathleen Edwards, Sarah Harmer) and Jay McCarroll (Brave Shores, Hayden, Jason Collett) . For several years she fronted the Barrie, ON indie outfit Fox Jaws sharing the bill with acts such as Grizzly Bear and Fleet Foxes. This led her to performing and writing with Brett Caswell as a member of his band The Marquee Rose, and as a member of Ottawa's Amos The Transparent.
